This weekend was a whooper of a weekend for us! We started it out by taking the boys to their first ever professional soccer match! When we saw that it was France vs Australia we knew we had to go, though we didn’t know who to cheer for. In the end we went with the home team deciding we will cheer for Aus for the next three years so its only fair. The match didn’t start until 9pm so we put the girls to sleep for the sitter then took a nice walk over to the stadium. I do’t know if it was the lateness of the hour or what but man our boys were whiny on the walk over. I thought ‘if this is how they are going to be all night we are in for a rough one’. Luckily once we stepped inside the stadium all thoughts of tired feet evaporated… and moved on to snacks ha! Okay not right away, but pretty fast. We were lucky to be 8 rows up from the field right in among a very ruckus group of fans.
You can see a short short clip I made of them signing then national anthem HERE. I left my good camera at home because honestly soccer games get pretty crazy and I didn’t want to be worrying about it if a riot broke out. (there were hundreds of riot police outside the stadium so my fears weren’t all that unfounded).
We had a great time and were able to see France score FOUR times in the first half before we left to get those tuckered boys back home and in bed. The next morning we were up bright and early to celebrate the boys school’s 90th birthday by attending a special program at Notre Dame Catherdral. But I want to do a whole post on that! As soon as the Mass was done the boys and Chris loaded up in the car and headed to Boy Scout camp for the rest of the weekend! Chris sent me this text while at camp that totally cracked me up. *substitute couscous for cus cus*.
And yes the boys happily partook of the quails eggs. They came home sunday covered in dirt and grinning from ear to ear.
Meanwhile I was at home with the girls enjoying girl time. During their two naps (Sat and Sun) I decided to try and tackle one of our boring guest rooms. This is just the start but the wall now has a face lift and all it took was a straight edge and two gold sharpies!
I am thinking of putting some super bright little dressers on either side and keeping the bedding white with a bright blanket on the end. Maybe a round mirror in the middle over the bed? What do you think? Maybe a bright tufted headboard is in it’s future. It was so easy and I LOVE the way it turned out. If you would like to try you can find the original tutorial HERE on one of my fav blogs Vintage Revivals. Mandi and I competed wayyyyy back in crafting with the stars and this girl is FULL of fabulous ideas! Anyway, I am just really happy that today is an American holiday which means the kids are at school but Daddy is home! Yay! I feel like I needed this extra day to recover from the weekend ha! Now it is off to Disneyland with the kids to take in the fireworks show! If you want to follow the fun you can find me on instagram @wildwanderings !
Hope your weekend was fantastic!
